De Graanhandel

Interior design for a warm and energetic place at the Piushaven in Tilburg

Interior design
De Graanhandel

De Graanhandel is located in one of the most distinctive buildings at the Piushaven in Tilburg: a building designed by architect Jos Schijvens in the shape of a boat.

De Graanhandel asked Ralf Gloudemans to help with the interior design and with preserving the vision they had for the place. The ambition was to create a space where people could feel welcome from early morning until late evening: a place for coffee, breakfast, lunch, drinks and dinner, with warmth, energy and craft at its centre.

The project focused on atmosphere, materiality and coherence. Rather than designing a space that felt too polished or distant, the interior needed to feel generous, lively and approachable: a place where ambition, creativity and enjoyment could come together.

Within the renovation, Ralf helped shape an interior language that supports the rhythm of the day. The space had to work for quiet morning moments as well as busy evenings, for guests as well as the team. Warm materials, colour, light, texture and custom spatial choices were used to strengthen the character of the building and the hospitality of the place.

De Graanhandel became a fine, energetic place at the Piushaven: a restaurant and café where craft, atmosphere and everyday use come together in an interior that feels both considered and alive.
