Aegis is a ceramic 3D-printed vase form within the ARTEFACTS series. The form consists of a central body in which four arm-like shapes do not stand apart, but merge into one solid whole.

To make the object printable in spiral mode, the openings and transitions in the form were closed. This creates a bound ceramic body in which function, print logic and sculptural form come together. The visible layer structure emphasises the upward movement of the object and reveals how the vase emerged directly from the printing process.

The name Aegis refers to a protective breastplate or a form of protective force. It carries a meaning of enclosure, strength and shelter, where separate elements merge into one bound whole.

Each version is unique because of the production method. Pressure, drying, firing and material behaviour leave subtle differences in every object.
