FLOW was a collaborative installation presented during Dutch Design Week 2023 by Dutch Invertuals, EDHV, Béla Bezold, Ralf Gloudemans and Teresa Fernández-Pello. Under the title Be like water, the installation invited visitors to step away from their daily data flow and reconnect with a slower, physical experience.

The project responded to a technology-infused society in which daily life is increasingly shaped by data, information and digital systems. Instead of adding another screen-based layer, FLOW created an immersive material environment around water, tactility and movement. It asked whether carefully crafted experiences can help re-establish a deeper connection to physical reality.

Within the installation, Ralf designed the layered leaf-like forms over which water droplets slowly moved. These elements became part of a larger system of materials, surfaces and flows: water gathered, travelled and changed direction across the installation, making movement visible through gravity, texture and time.

FLOW was developed as one shared installation, with individual contributions by the participating designers coming together in a collective spatial experience. Béla Bezold’s water element, Ralf’s layered forms, Teresa Fernández-Pello’s material and symbolic references, and EDHV’s connecting scenography formed an environment in which water became both subject and medium.
