HANDMADE? questions what it means for an object to be handmade in a time where digital tools, augmented reality and physical craft increasingly overlap.

The project consists of a physical ceramic vase and an augmented reality overlay. At first, the vase appears as a tangible object: casted in earthenware, marked with engobe pencil and finished with a transparent matte glaze. Its surface carries visible traces of drawing, touch and ceramic making.

Through the AR layer, a second version of the object becomes visible. This digital extension does not replace the physical vase, but adds another reality to it. The work can be encountered as material object and as virtual image at the same time, shifting between what is held, what is seen and what is digitally activated.

HANDMADE? reflects on the changing role of the maker. The hand is still present, but not only through direct physical touch. It also appears in digital decisions, virtual gestures, scanning, modelling and the placement of a digital layer over a ceramic body.

The question mark in the title remains important. The project does not give a fixed answer, but opens a space of uncertainty: when a work moves between clay, drawing, digital image and augmented reality, where does the handmade begin or end?
