Ansera is a small slip-casted vase within the Domestic Monuments series. The form starts from the recognisable typology of a vase, but through its two side grips it takes on an almost bodily posture.

The grips do not only refer to handles or ears, but also read as arms that enclose the body of the vase. This creates an object that is at once functional vessel, figure and small monument.

The name Ansera is a free derivation of ansa, the Latin word for the handle, ear or grip of a vessel. The name refers to the two arm-like grips of the object and to the way they carry, enclose and give character to the vase body.

Subtle differences in glaze, colour transition and surface are part of the process.
