Attora is a slip-casted vase within the Domestic Monuments series. The form grows upward from a slender foot into a powerful, chest-like volume and opens at the top.

The four arms rise with the body toward the opening, strengthening the upward posture of the object. As a result, Attora does not only seem to stand, but to lift and elevate itself. The vase remains connected to function, but through its volume, gesture and ceramic skin it gains a monumental presence within the interior.

The name Attora is derived from the Latin attollere: to lift, elevate or raise up. The name refers to the way the form is carried upward from a narrow base, with the arms guiding the body toward the opening.

Subtle differences in glaze, colour transition and surface are part of the process.
